Similar controversial situations exist in relation to polyploid breeding where artificial polyploids have yet to prove their worth over their diploid counterparts from commercial point of view excepting Citrullus vulgaris (water melon) (Kihara 1951, Andrus et al. In genera like Trichosanthes (Singh and Roy 1977) and Melothria (Singh 1974) good number of polyploid forms are present indicating the role of polyploidy in evolving new populations or species. The author also realised the same while reviewing the cytological data in the family Cucurbitaceae (Singh 1977). Whitaker (1950) while describing a case of natural polyploidy in Echinocystis macrocarpa, rightly pointed out that polyploidy might have played an important role in the evolutionary progress of a few genera, if not the whole family. But these generalised statements require to be justified through intensive cytological survey of the wild and cultivated taxa. Stebbins (1950) and Ayyangar (1967) have further developed this argument and denied the role of polyploidy in speciation of the family Cucurbitaceae. Bhaduri and Bose (1947), while discussing the cytogenetics of some cultivated cucurbitaceous taxa pointed out that chromosomal alterations are mainly responsible for the speciation in different genera of this family. The role of polyploidy in family Cucurbitaceae has been debated by many scientists. The anti-nutritional oxalate and crude protein compositions were neither affected by variant nor season nor their interaction. ![]() Variant I had significantly higher ether extract content (0.97 g/100 g) than Variant II ( 0.64 g/100 g) while Variant II had significantly higher total sugar (0.98 g/100 g) compared to Variant I (0.60 g/100 g). The early season crop had significantly higher ascorbic acid composition (25.2 mg/100 g) than the late season crop (18.0 mg/100 g) while the late season crop had significantly higher ether extract (0.94 g/100 g), crude fiber (3.40 g/100 g) and total sugars (0.95 g/100 g) compared to the early season crop which had 0.64, 1.60 and 0.50 g/100 g, of ether extract, crude fiber and total sugars, respectively. The variants had no effect on fruit yield, number of marketable fruits, cull fruits and number of flowers aborted. Crop yield during the early season averaged 22.2 tons ha(-1) while it was 13.3 tons ha(-1) during the late season. Statistical analysis ( P <= 0.05) showed that the early season crop had significantly higher number of leaves, vine length, number of marketable fruits and fruit yield compared to the late season crop while the late season crop recorded significantly higher number of aborted flowers and cull fruits. ![]() Studies were conducted in the early season of 2002 and late season of 2003 at the Teaching and Research Farm, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria to determine the effects of season on growth, fruit yield and nutrient profile of two landraces ( Variant I and II) of snake tomato ( Trichosanthes cucumerina L.). In this paper an attempt has been made to document and encourage the local farmers which are unique traditional practices of pest management (R. The economic status indicated that the highest annual income Rs.89, 275.00/family) was recorded from Alenpur followed by Dargakona area Rs.34, 750.00/family) and the lowest was recorded from Narsinghpur Rs.19, 625Rs/family). Out of total response of farmers from this district indicated that 80 % farmer were using chemical pesticides where 77.50 % used traditional methods along with chemical pesticides. foveicollis was found to be the maximum (77.50 %) with cow dung and fly ash followed by red chilly powder (50 %).The minimum (25 %) used material was kala maati powder (black soil). Total response in using traditional methods against R. Alenpur, Dargakona, Katigorah and Narsinghpur in Cachar district revealed that the maximum (80 %) farmers were engaged in cultivation of cucurbitaceous crops along with other crops in Katigorah and Narsinghpur whereas the minimum (65 %) was found in Dargakona. Math.random will select a value from the shuffled array of a finite sequence demonstrated by the code snippet below. The survey among the farmers of four villages, viz. The Fisher-Yates is one great way to prevent getting the same number twice by shuffling the sequence. There are many methods to achieve unique values without repetition. The randomization is based on the algorithm xorshift128+, which is likely running on your browser. This means its randomization can be reproduced under certain circumstances. ![]() This algorithm is called a pseudo-random number generator (or PRNG). Math.random() returns a pseudo-random number. There are a couple I see come up often… Is Math.random() really random? It’s possible you have questions after seeing Math.random in these examples. This password generator uses Math.random to get a password array filled with uppercase and lowercase letters then adds random digits to the generated password.
